Change your life and become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI). Through the Instructor Development Course (IDC) this will prepare you to become a professional diving instructor. The course consists of two parts the Assistant Instructor and Open Water Instructor.
If you are already qualified as a PADI Assistant Instructor you can complete the second half of the IDC and be eligible to take you Instructor Exam.
The course lasts approx seven days and can be spread over two long weekends or a single week. The course consists of a mixture of classroom sessions, pool sessions and open water sessions. Throughout these you will learn how to brief, evaluate and debrief divers in the classroom, confined and open waters. You will also work on your presentation and evaluation techniques and learn how to use all the different aspects of the PADI system.
Once the IDC is complete to qualify as an OWSI you must take the PADI Instructor Exam (IE) which is independent of you IDC and is ran by PADI. The IE last two days and covers the four areas, knowledge development, classroom presentation, confined and open water presentations. IE are ran every month across the UK and the IDC is usually ran the week before an IE.
Take your Instructor qualification further and become a Master Scuba Diver Traininer
