Firstly we have some of the best facilities in the country. With our onsite heated pool (30 degrees), classrooms and large car park. There isn’t anytime wasted going between the shop and local swimming pools. We only used high quality and well maintained diving equipment in the school, with separate equipment for both pool and open water training. We are also the longest running diving centre in the area with over 35 years membership with PADI,over 3000 students certified and PADI’s 5 star status. Our instructional team are highly experienced and passionate about diving.
We make it our goal to train in the sea and not in fresh water. We also encourage our students to continue with us after their course with reduced rates for kit hire, warm water diving holidays and an active social scene. Trips this year include: Lanzarote, Isle of Bute, Isle of Skye, Malta, Red Sea, Truk Lagoon and Philippines.
The emphasis of the Advanced Open Water Course is focused on diving itself and is up broken into five distinct adventure dives. There is no need for classroom lessons or pool lessons however; knowledge reviews need to be completed.
There are two required dives to do which include underwater navigation that focuses on compass work and finding your way around underwater. The second is a deep dive where you learn more about dive planning and the how to avoid decompression sickness.
The other three dives can be chosen from: boat, dry suit, peak performance buoyancy, wreck, digital underwater imaging, search and recovery and Underwater Naturalist.
The exact dives that you do will be determined by your interest, the environment you are training in, the conditions at the dive site and your instructors’ discretion.
We dive regularly in the sea at Beadnell, St Abbs, St Marys and also have monthly trips to Farne Islands where you can complete boat, deep and wreck dives. However if the weather turns and the sea is blown out we do have the option of inland sites where we can still carry out the training.
All the major equipment you need throughout the course is provided this includes full dive equipment. However, you must have your own mask and snorkel as a minimum for the course as these are personal items of kit. Other items we strongly recommend include your own personnel items such as boots, fins, and gloves for fit and comfort for the open water dives.
You do receive a 10% discount on any mask and snorkel bought from us for your course.
Did you enjoy one of your adventure dives why not take it further with a speciality course. These allow you to learn more about the type of diving that interests you most, and gain valuable skills from a PADI instructor who shares your interest.
Continue you education and develop your skills with the PADI Rescue Course.
