Here at The Diving Centre Ltd, we offer three courses for those between 11-15.
Due to the diving conditions here on the North East coast we recommend the following.
All junior divers must complete a Discover Scuba Session with us before being booked on a course.
PADI Junior Scuba Diver Course 11-13 ( from £250)
The PADI Scuba Diver course is a subset of the PADI Open Water Diver Course. It is a great way to begin your adventure in diving particularly if you expect to go scuba diving primarily with a professional dive guide. This course is also an intermediate step towards an Open Water Diver certification, if that’s your ultimate goal.
PADI Scuba Divers are qualified to:
To enroll onto the Junior Scuba Diver course, you will be between 11-13 years old be comfortable in the water. There are two swimming requirements, to swim 200m unaided, (in your own time, using any stroke of your choice) and to tread water/float for 10 minutes. You will also need to complete a self certification medical questionnaire. (If there are any health concerns you will need to take the questionnaire to your doctor for a final check before diving). You don’t need to have any previous scuba diving experience but you can try it first through our Discover Scuba Diving sessions.
The PADI Scuba Diver course consists of three main phases:
PADI Junior Open Water Course 14-15 (from £450)
The PADI Open Water Course is the world’s best and most popular entry level course into the underwater world of scuba diving. Once the course is completed you will be qualified to dive to 12m with a PADI PRO or parent. This is a globally recognised certification that is valid for life.
The Open Water Course is split into three sections: theory, pool modules and open water dives. The theory sections are based on home study allowing you to learn at your own pace. The modules are supported and reviewed by sessions with an instructor who can explain any areas in more detail. There are five pool modules where you will learn the skills to dive safely. Finally the four open water dives allow you to demonstrate the skills that you have learned during your pool modules in safe natural environment.
PADI Junior Open Water Course Referral 10-15 (from £295)
If you’re lucky enough to be planning a holiday somewhere a little warmer than the North Sea, you can complete all the academic and pool development sessions with us and then take your 4 open-water dives at a PADI Dive Centre of your choice.
You also receive a 10% discount on your first mask and snorkel purchase from us if you sign up for any of the above courses.
Cost £350
The Course starts every two – three weeks with theory and pool modules carried out on either a Wednesday night from 6:30pm or a Saturday morning from 9:15am. The course is structured with 5 pool sessions booked with a start date and one session every week. The open water dives are carried out over two weekends or alternatively on one of our weekend trips to West Coast of Scotland or on one of our diving holidays such as Lanzarote 6th-13th March 2019
Cost: £400
Same as the standard course but you complete the course in our high quality school drysuit which will give you extra warmth and comfort in and out of the water. This includes pool orientation and hire of suit.
All the major equipment you need throughout the course is provided this includes full dive equipment. However, you must have your own mask and snorkel as a minimum for the course as these are personal items of kit. Other items we strongly recommend include your own personnel items such as boots, fins, and gloves for fit and comfort for the open water dives.
You do receive a 10% off on mask, snorkel, fins, boots and gloves voucher as well as a 5% off everything in store voucher
(these vouchers are valid for one purchase and do not include special offers or packages)
The award winning Diving Centre is the longest running PADI 5* Dive Centre in the North East. All our instructors are experience and are passionate and enjoy diving. We offer a great service and some of the best on site facilities in the country with on-sited heated swimming pool and state of the art classrooms. We make it our goal to train in the sea and not in fresh water. We also encourage our students to continue to with us after their course with reduced rates for kit hire, warm water diving holidays and an active social scene.
The next step after the Open Water Course is the Advanced Course. Although as the name suggest advanced this course works well following the Open Water Course. As it consists of five supervised open water dives working on key skills like navigation, buoyancy, deeper diving and qualifies you to maximum of 30 metres.
